Suede and Fur Jacket

The Suede and Fur Jacket is a raincoat project. The idea was to create something packable, with storage, that is water resistant. The fur is removable making it packable, there are pockets for storage, and the jacket was sprayed with a water resistance chemical.

The jacket features a flange on the neckline, center front, hem, and sleeve opening. The fur was attached to a matching grosgrain ribbon using a 4 thread overlock and snaps were installed in both the ribbon and flange.

I duplicated each pattern piece to figure out an accurate layout on the split. I got 2 splits which was just enough to make this jacket. They were really scuffed up; The animal had a full life of running into bushes and getting mosquito bites.

I was lucky enough to find the toggles at the school. I figured out the placement on my pattern and marked the jacket with chalk. I used a leather stitching punch to create the holes for stitching through both the patch and jacket. I made sure to go through the cord which holds the toggles when stitching the patch on too.
