Hemming Burton Snowpants
The photos above showcase a pair of Burton Snowpants which needed to be hemmed. They feature heel guards, 2 linings; One is separate from the pants from the knee down and has a cinched elastic at the ankle. There is also a hook and elastic loop which holds the free lining up if the wearer chooses, and a zipper and gusset at the hem. Lastly, there is a self hemming elastic detail anchored at the hem and accessed through an opening at the shin.
The client explained she would never wear ski boots with the snowpants, so the best option was to shorten the zipper instead of moving it up. I removed the plastic coils and installed zipper stops 3/4” above the new finished hem line.
The self hemming elastic had to be shortened the same amount as the rest. I removed it from the piece of lining anchoring it to the hem so that I could cut it.
The welt had to be cut and hemmed as well as the gusset. The final look is showcased above.
